The seven Rotary Clubs of the Bolton area, decided to develop a joint project to celebrate the centenary of Rotary International.  This was the Rotary Way Bolton, a footpath following the perimeter of Bolton MBC’s area.  It is 50 miles long, and divided into eight sections.

The project was some 2 1/2 years in the planning, and was officially opened on the Centenary day itself.  Past Rotary GB&I President John Kenny joined us for the occasion, having inspected the route.

The members of all seven clubs then took part in a relay around the whole route, on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd May, and proved that it can be done in 17 hours, 32 minutes, which is around 3 mph.

We also celebrated with a 36-page, A5 book, The Rotary Way, sold to the public at £10.00 including postage.  (Copies are still available – please email rotarianchristopherhill@gmail.com to get hold of a copy. There are only a handful left for purchase.
